WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE WITCHES THEY DIDN'T BURN
WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE WITCHES THEY DIDN'T BURN
WE ARE THE GRANDAUGHTERS OF THE WITCHES YOU COULDN’T BURN – paraphrased from the 2015 Tish Thawer novel The Witches of BlackBrook – is now a commonly seen slogan at feminist protests.
I really like this quote as do all of you, its by far my most popular quote that i make, and regardless of how many i make i never seem to have enough! I have changed it to children as it more inclusive to everyone then, it doesn’t necessarily just have to be about women specifically.
Witches are the original feminist, strong, outspoken women in a town who maybe were considered to be more trouble then wanted and rumours about them were already probably rampant when the witches craze happened these poor women were the first to be accused. Women turning on women is not a new phenomenon but one that is always troubling - in current affairs hearing women want to take our rights to body autonomy away is more frustrating than the pig headed men who just want control. We as Women need to hold each other accountable but also lift each other up and shout us from the roof tops.
